Vacant PhD fellowships in glycobiology
The positions are potentially related to two different projects:
1) One specific project is on how glycans affect the function of the human tissue formation. We will use genetic engineering and mass spectrometry technologies combined with human skin organotypic tissue models to understand the importance of glycans in keratinocyte differentiation and human skin formation. The program has a high potential for fundamental discoveries and pharmacological intervention in neural diseases.
2) The second project is related to how glycans affect the function of the human neurological system. Again, with genetic engineering and mass spectrometry combined with neural cell and tissue models, we aim to perform a systematic dissection of glycans in neuronal differentiation, synapse formation, and the interplay between neurons and glial cells. We believe the program has the potential to impact pharmacological intervention in neural diseases.
