A new publication from the Hickson group at the CCS in Molecular Cell
On the 23rd Aug., the Hickson group published a paper that defines the role of RAD51 (and its partner, BRCA2), in preventing the damaging effects of transcription-replication conflicts in S-phase in human cells.
This role for RAD51 suppresses DNA fork breakage and the subsequent amplification of genomic regions that are commonly observed in cancer cells.
