Peter Haahr receives “Young Talented Cancer Researcher Award” from the Danish Cancer Society

Peter Haahr, Group Leader at the Center for Gene Expression (CGEN), has received the Young Talented Cancer Researcher Award from the Danish Cancer Society (Kræftens Bekæmpelse).

The award is made possible through the nationwide 'Knæk Cancer' fundraising initiative and supports a new research direction for Peter’s team to explore how cancer cells evade immune detection by modulating antigen presentation — a key process required for effective tumour recognition by the immune system.

By combining advanced genetic screening and molecular cell biology, his project aims to uncover how cell stress and regulation of mRNA translation shape tumour immunogenicity and responsiveness to immunotherapy. The work will provide new basic insights in these processes and potentially reveal novel strategies to enhance immune recognition of cancer cells.
