New publication in Molecular Cell from Bekker-Jensen Group
Sunburn has traditionally been attributed to UV-induced DNA damage. However, a new study by the Bekker-Jensen Group at Center for Gene Expression, University of Copenhagen and Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, reveals that RNA, another vital cellular molecule, plays a major role in triggering acute sunburn reactions.
The study has been publiced in Molecular Cell. "The ribotoxic stress response drives acute inflammation, cell death, and epidermal thickening in UV-irradiated skin in vivo"
