Primary research areas
The biology of liver cells in health and disease. Cellular and molecular mechanisms involved in foetal programming and repair/regeneration of the liver with specific emphasis on stem cells. More than 20 years expertise in experimental animal models of liver damage, repair and regeneration, isolation and culturing of liver progenitor cells, in vitro differentiation of human embryonic stem cells along hepatic cell lineages, transcriptional profiling of mRNA and miRNA’s with microarrays and qRT-PCR, and standard immunohistochemical and confocal immunofluorescence microscopy.
